The lyrics below are only part of the song i am looking for. i was at a funeral last week and a pastor and his wife sang this. they said it was called "gettin' ready" but didn't know how i could get a copy of the song. they said it is very old and probably southern baptist. can you tell me where i could find all the lyrics, the songwriter's name and possibly a recording. the sheet music would do if i can't get a recording. any help would be much appreciated. i've checked on the web but have been unsuccessful.Â
I'm gettin' ready, ready,
I'm gettin' ready now to move;
I'm gonna move right into my Father's house,
On Heaven's avenue.
I'm gettin' ready, ready,
I'm gettin' ready now to move;
I'm gonna move right into my Father's house,
On Heaven's avenue.
I'm gonna walk right down the streets of gold,
With friends I used to know;
I want to sit down and have a little talk,
With Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego;
Meet St. Peter, James and John,
I want to talk with the prophets one by one;
When I move into my Father's house
On Heaven's avenue.
When I move, when I move;
I'm gonna move right into my Father's house
On Heaven's avenue.
When I move, when I move;
I'm gonna move right into my Father's house
On Heaven's avenue.
I'm gonna walk right down those streets of gold,
With friends I used to know;
I want to sit down and have a little talk,
With Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego;
Meet St. Peter, James and John,
I want to talk with the prophets one by one;
When I move into my Father's house
On Heaven's avenue.
When I move, when I move;
When I move right into my Father's house
On Heaven's avenue.
